Alex and Rory: Amalia's 1 year birthday

The baby brothers and sisters are all turning 1- yikes! Amalia's birthday party was held at Lake Accotink park which is a great spot! There's a big playground and a fenced eating area for parties, places to rent kayaks and paddle boats, a carousel and hiking trails. The kids had a fantastic time and we all went on a short hike through the woods. All the kids got red fanny packs with raisins, bubbles and pretzels for the trek. The birthday girl and her cohort were carried in all varieties of carriers- if you are in the market for some sort of carrier this was event you should have been at to try them all out. 8)

Perhaps one of the best things about these birthday parties is that we all get to see each other and catch up. With the differing school schedules, naps and activities we all have a hard time getting together these days. Kind of sad really... actually, the saddest thing is that Rory doesn't get the benefit of having such a close knit group of friends to hang out with all the time like Alex did. We should probably make an effort to have playdates for her.
