0530

So, Alex decided not to sleep much last night, so neither did we. Very long night! I don't even remember how many hours I was up, but I think I slept 2 hours. Mom slept more - maybe 4. This morning, he did sleep for a few hours and woke up at 8. I took his temp, which was 101.7, and called the doctor. They could fit us in at 8:45 or after 1, so we rushed in. The doctor thought it was probably a cold, but, since we were scheduled to get some bloodwork in a few months in order to check iron levels and lead levels, and since there's a small chance that this could be another kind of infection, we were sent upstairs to get blood drawn. Alex didn't like it much, and it didn't help that the tech had to poke both arms before he could find a vein.

Anyway, he also advised us on what kind of lotion to use on his eczema. Seems to be helping quite a bit, along with avoiding baby oil and a few other measures.

So for now, we give Alex Tylenol (and Motrin if he needs it) to keep his fever down, and wait a few days for the blood tests. If he doesn't improve over the next 3 days then we need to go back in for other testing, but that's unlikely. We didn't go anywhere this afternoon - I took a nap, Alex had a couple of decent naps, and he just played around the house.

Late in the afternoon, Jill came over to visit, and Alex gave her some great big grins. No video conference tonight, due to network problems on Angela's end, but now she's on her way home!

Here is a video of my mom showing Alex a great book of baby faces. Now I need some sleep!
