Nepal- Nagakort June 2009

We went to Nagakort- along the ridge of the Kathmandu Valley- famed for it's views of the Himalayas and traditional lifestyle. It was beautiful, terraced farming along the way. These are pics during the dry season- the rains were late this year in Nepal (and in N. India bbut we will get to that soon)

Beautiful views- we were up at an elevation above Kathmandu and noticed the effort it took to do a short walk up a hill! Man are we out of shape!

MakikoAs the sun was setting- we hiked out to a spot that we were told held beautiful sunset views

Alex had a great time
It started to get chilly

Sunset

In the morning we went out to a tower for more views (this is supposed to be spectacular in the fall when the sky is clear and you have great views of the Himalayas and the snow capped peaks- we got glimpses of some of them- great views from the airplane in and out of Kathmandu)

We climbed up this tower (perhaps foolishly) rickety, rusty with boards missing up top- Alex idd a great job climbing up AND down

Rory checking out a ladybug (they have them in Nepal!)

Alex and Rory enjoyed "feeding" the terracotta frog on the patio

Famed for the sunrise over the Himalayas, we woke at 445am to watch the sunrise... it was beautiful. We heard the bird's morning chorus, roosters crowing and down in the valley people were getting ready for their day (we went back to sleep- lazy bums that we are!) These are the views from the balcony outside our room
