Rory update

Rory is able to nurse, then, when she's done, she's given another ounce of milk through a tube in her nose. It's very nice that Angela was able to store up so much over the weeks while she was in the hospital - they are able to use that milk for the tube feeds!

No really significant weight gain yet, but she did not lose any more, and may have gained a bit. Addendum - she was admitted with a weight of 5lbs 6.7oz, and now she weighs 5lbs, 8.9oz - the hospital staff made a mistake on calculating the weight at admission, but Angela and I were there and saw the scale with our own eyes, so we know we have the right number. So, she's gained over 2oz! That's on track for what she should be doing, so we are happy about that.

The doctors are more concerned about her bloodwork, which again shows that she has elevated white blood count which may indicate an infection somewhere. They expect that it will turn out to be enterocolitis, which is probably not a big problem, but they will give her antibiotics and also switch to a larger catheter for her washes, which may help to keep her bowel clean and take care of the problem.

Angela spent the night at the hospital again, and will probably continue to do that, though we may switch off (I can give a bottle or two or three if staying over night, but Angela can't be alone with Alex for too long b/c she can't supervise him while she is pumping!)

My mom (Susan) is coming down on Tuesday evening, which will help a lot.
