Babies and rocketships

Rory continues to make progress in the right direction, her blood tests are all showing improvement and she opens her eyes more. Her belly seemed much more distended today and the surgical team once again showed us how to do her rectal washes (which will be part of her home care prior to surgery). She had another platelet transfusion today, she continues on broad spectrum antibiotics and feeding through her veins. There are indications that she may soon be ready to try to eat. We were told that she needs to be eating well before she can go home.

Today we were able hold her- we had to be careful of all of the lines and monitors but it was so nice to be able to hold her again.





This morning before going into the hospital, Peter and Alex sang "rocketship rocketship to the moon" (from his music class) for about half an hour. We tried to get it on video, but alas... Alex was too interested in trying to see the video than letting us video tape him. Afterwards, Alex went to the Mt Pleasant library story hour with Tamra and Tess. They met up with Sanda and Owen and Alex had a good time.

This evening he had a great time at home, playing with Nana, mama and dada. Alex played with our neighbor's kitten Padma (Ramone. the other kitten, was hiding). Alex loves playing with the kittens, he's very gentle petting them and enjoys running up and down the hall with them. He's even named his orange stuffed kitten Ramone.
