The people who run Star Huts (in which we are staying & also stayed when we came here in August) have a 2-year-old, named Wah (don't know if that's how it's spelled, but that's how it's pronounced - like my dad's initials) who actually turned 2 yesterday. They invited Alex to her birthday party, so after a 2nd nap, we headed over to the restaurant where Alex sat on Angela's lap and ate soup and chicken wings with a bunch of other kids (some Thai, and some were other families who are staying here that are repeat customers - mostly Jessa's family, actually). Alex actually spent most of the party pushing around a plastic stool b/c he's a baby, I guess. He'd push it into the store, up to where the soccer balls are hanging, and say 'baw!' then turn around and carry the stool out. Very silly. After cake, all of the kids headed out to the beach where the 'tide' was really low and they could all play in the sand. Jessa led Alex all over the beach to see all sorts of stuff - he had a great time. (One of the pictures from yesterday's post is from the birthday party, too - the picture of Wah - it's easy to tell..)
After he went to bed, there were some fireworks down the beach, and then someone lit some sort of torch under a paper lantern-ish thing, waited for it to get nice & hot, then let it go to float up into the air (Laura - that must have been the strange floating light in August!) & off into the night. They sent two of them up.
Weather here...well, you don't want to know.
