Well, we've all been a bit sick lately. Actually, Alex has had a runny nose and a cough for a week (mostly better now, though) and Angela has had terrible strep throat that is actually keeping her home from work tonight, which is very unusual. But I think she's getting better, too, with the help of some IV fluids while at work yesterday and plenty of rest today.

We've been going to the park a lot, of course. Two days ago Jill, Alex, and I went outside planning to go to the park despite some looming clouds, almost turned around right away, then ended up at the park after all. As the clouds got darker Leora called & we headed over to Kalorama park to meet with them, but half-way there the rain started. We headed home. By the time we got to the building the rain was quite heavy, but we avoided the worst. Unfortunately, Angela was driving home from the hospital in the torrential downpour, and she was sick. Fortunately, she made it home ok.

We haven't been skyping family since we've been home, partly because we've done some furniture rearranging so that there is more room for Angela to study, and that makes it a bit more difficult to leave a computer in the living room. But we are working on it.

Other than that - well, we haven't been walking to the zoo in the morning. Our current excuse is that Alex is not waking up early and wants to eat right away, and he is in charge (?) We have been to the zoo a few times to meet up with friends at the zoo pizza (big play area for kids in the shape of a pizza), and that's been great.

Alex is starting to try to say more words, and he clearly knows that words are very important. He's pointing at everything & making his "zis?" sound, meaning "what is this," so we are constantly naming all of the objects of the world. He tries to say 'fan' and 'light' (but still sometimes calls lights fans - long story.) And of course he loves to say 'done' and also says 'fish.' And I'm not sure if 'da' counts as 'dog' in his mind, but that's usually what he says when he sees a dog. He's still just sometimes taking a few steps - certainly not walking yet, which means we don't have to chase him constantly. Soon enough, though...
